[edit]Removed section about the Blue Devils being the "Oakland Raiders" of DCI. No definite source for such statement, and such statement can be regarded as blatant opinion of one individual, who feels that the Blue Devils are a disrespectful organization. While everyone is entitled to their own opinion of the corps, such opinions should not be used as facts on a website dedicated to being an encyclopedia. This page is meant to detail the facts and history of the organization, not as a bulletin board for slander.--GooberJoovies (talk) 22:40, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Heh....we're more like the NY Yankees, actually....the more we win, the more people hate on us!
Uhhh....re the supposed 2007 vocals....someone point out where this "demonic laughter" is...I saw the show several times during the season and have both the finals audio and the encore video and have never heard any amplified vocals. The battery yells "Here come Heaven" at one point, but that was not amplified.
In addition, there was a vocal during and after the long roll in the 85 version of the Karn Evil #9 percussion feature (We ALMOST did the same thing in 84, but it never made it out of the practice arc), so the idea of BD vocalizing is not new. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.106.107.111 (talk) 07:54, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
The "amplified demonic laughter" is about 2:30 into the show when the horns are lined up in a diagonal with the drumline weaving through. Midnight Q (talk) 20:36, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
I dunno...I just put my ear on my speakers...I heard pit effects and Space Chords....but no demonic laughter....if it was there, it wasn't very loud. I don't ever remember hearing it, and I saw the show a number of times throughout the season. In fact...I went to the 5.1 recording from the 07 "Inside" DVD -- a MUCH more acoustically clean recording than one at finals with all the crowd noise...no laughter....and 2:30 on the 5.1 recording is the Pegasus hit. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.230.184.177 (talk) 05:08, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- It isn't on the 5.1. In fact, I don't remember amps being used at all during that recording. On the championship performance (Inside BD 2007) it starts exactly at 2:44 and ends exactly at 2:55. Turn up your bass...it's deep! Midnight Q (talk) 21:57, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh....THAT sound! I didn't recognize it as laughter...sounds more like someone dragging a bass mallet across the head! Star of Indiana did the same think in 86 during the opening of the "Close Encounters" section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.230.202.93 (talk) 03:41, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
--- I finally saw a video of the "lights out" show...spectacular recovery...I don't know if the 84 corps would've done the same thing had the lights gone out on us. And a friend of mine from the 99bari line said they only learned the closing moves of the show THAT DAY!! Makes the marching/playing in teh dark even more impressive.
"the Devs" and "BD" nicknames
[edit]In my experience, no one has ever called the Blue Devils "the Devs" or "BD". Should I remove the nicknames from the article? BassHero55 (Message me) 00:17, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
- Have heard them called "the Devs" on rare occasions, usually by people who are not close to the activity, not by hard-corps fans... On the other hand, I have heard them called "BD" many, many times for many years--- also "BDB" & "BDC" for the B & C corps... GWFrog (talk) 17:23, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
I've been involved with the Blue Devils since 1972 as a marching member (6 years), tour director (2 years), transportation manger (2 years) and as President, Secretary, Director at Large of the Board of Directors for 15 years. Throughout my past 42 years, I do find that a number of people still use the term "Devs", and a LOT of people use BD. I would not remove the nicknames. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jeff DeMello (talk • contribs) 06:01, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
Drmies and "unencyclopedic"

Please explain the massive changes made to this page unilaterally and without any explanation here on the talk page. I am informed that you are going around and doing this to all the Drum Corps pages very quietly. What is the technical reason for eliminating years of input from users? Are you a musician? A disgruntled ex-drum corps vet? Someone who does not understand music? If you are doing this very quietly, you must understand the general implications as to the loss of this information to the music community. |
Merges

- The result of this discussion was Merge, as there were no objections. Bgsu98 (talk) 01:12, 30 June 2022 (UTC)
Both the B and C corps articles should be merged into this article, per the deletion discussion outcome for the C corps, and my suggestion for the B corps. Neither needs a stand-alone article, they are feeders for this outfit. Acroterion (talk) 03:47, 8 November 2021 (UTC)
- I see where Blue Devils C was merged into this article, but the merger of Blue Devils B still hasn’t occurred. Bgsu98 (talk) 21:51, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
